Car Insurance Claim Tips

Car Insurance claim tips...when is the last time you checked your insurance policy? I was involved in a minor accident last year when a driver sideswiped me on a double lane turn. The first thing you have to make sure is get the license number of the other car involved. It doesn't matter who is at fault, some drivers will leave the scene of an accident so the first thing I would do is get their license number and call the local police department and report the accident. Even if the accident you are involved in is a minor accident you need to file a police report so calling the police is an absolute must.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT COVERAGE YOU HAVE?

Most people sign on for insurance coverage without really understanding what coverage they have. So it is good to take a look at what your coverage is in case you should have the unfortunate situation of being in an accident. Car insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, in which you agree to pay the premium, while the insurance company agrees to reimburse your loss as it is stated in your insurance policy. Car Insurance is the price you pay to protect yourself, your passengers, and your car against unexpected losses.

Make sure you know what you are covered for by reading your policy and if you don't understand everything, contact your broker to have them explain all the details including costs. Questions you should ask your broker are will your vehicle be covered if you are at fault in an accident? Another is how much money will your insurance company pay you if your car needs repair? Another item is to ask how and what do you do to make a claim and what are the steps to take to do so? These are just some of the questions you can ask your broker as well.
